How does good Hygiene affect your life?

    December 29, 2023

Our world is teeming with microorganisms, trillions of them. Every life form is sustained by them and they make the planet habitable. The vast majority of them are beneficial, but some, in fact a tiny minority, are harmful, causing all sorts of infectious diseases that are responsible for human morbidity, mortality, epidemics and, as we know all too well, pandemics.

COVID-19 was an eye-opener for many of us, and one of the primary lessons learned was that maintaining good hygiene practices is essential for safeguarding our health and well-being. It serves as a crucial defense mechanism against illnesses. Regular handwashing, for instance, is one of the most effective ways to prevent the spread of infectious diseases, including the common cold, influenza, and gastrointestinal infections. Similarly, bathing or showering regularly removes dirt, sweat, and bacteria, reducing the risk of skin infections and body odor, and maintaining good oral hygiene by brushing and flossing regularly helps prevent cavities, gum disease, and bad breath and while often perceived as a solely physical concern, good hygiene’s influence extends far beyond, positively impacting our overall health, social interactions, and mental well-being.

It also plays a pivotal role in our social interactions and interpersonal relationships. Maintaining a clean and well-groomed appearance fosters a sense of self-confidence and enhances our overall personal presentation. When we feel good about ourselves, we exude a positive aura, making us more approachable and socially engaging. Conversely, poor hygiene can lead to social isolation and hinder our ability to form meaningful connections, negatively impacting our mental well-being. Engaging in hygienic practices instils a sense of control and self-care, promoting feelings of self-worth and personal responsibility. A well-maintained environment, whether it’s our own personal space or our surroundings, contributes to a sense of order and calm, reducing stress and anxiety.

To keep pace with consumer demands for healthy products and maintain the efficacy of its hygiene range in sometimes unpredictable circumstances, IFFCO Beauty division continuously researches and develops the process of manufacturing, distribution, and retailing of soap and other bathing products.

Guardex, the group’s front-runner in the anti-bacterial world, is formulated with OxyfusedZinc technology to protects against disease-causing germs through its portfolio of soaps, hand wash, shower gel and hand sanitisers, offering 99.99% germ protection.

The Savannah brand has developed a range of beauty solutions made with long-lasting, moisturising formulations and top-quality fragrances. From Egypt’s number one soap, Savannah Classic, to the latest innovations, Moments and Glow, all Savannah innovations help people feel fresh all day

IVY delivers on its promise to moisturise and refresh with hand wash, bar soap and shower gel that use the best ingredients and natural extracts in five variants – Herbal, Fruity, Creamy, Floral and Refreshing, creating a brand that benefits the personal care routines of families across the region.

It is fair to say that most IFFCO consumers have typically been focused on the scent and moisturizing capabilities of the product, but in recent times, consumers have started to become much more aware of the ingredients in soap and bath products. They are looking for products with natural and organic compositions, ones that can help with sustainability targets, and we take this as a positive move that presents significant growth opportunities as we meet the needs of this new type of consumer.

Incorporating good hygiene practices into our daily routines requires mindfulness and effort, but it does have positive benefits. Regularly washing our hands, especially after handling potentially contaminated objects, is absolutely vital. Even maintaining regular haircare and styling promotes healthy hair and prevents scalp infections, while wearing clean clothes helps prevent skin irritation and reduces the spread of germs.

Good hygiene is therefore a fundamental aspect of our overall health and well-being. By adopting hygienic practices, we safeguard ourselves, and our families and colleagues, from illnesses, enhance our social interactions, and promote positive mental well-being. Embracing hygiene as a way of life is an investment in ourselves, allowing us to thrive in all aspects of life.
